GBPUSD Position Size and Pip Value Calculator

GBPUSD is a major currency pair already quoted in USD, so its pip values come out in dollars with no extra conversion step. This page turns your account risk and stop-loss distance into a lot size, and shows what one pip is worth for a standard, mini, and micro lot. Use the same inputs to check the margin a trade ties up and the overnight swap charge before you open a position.

Questions

How much is 1 pip in GBPUSD worth?
For a standard lot of 100,000 GBP, one pip is worth $10.00. A mini lot (0.1) is worth $1.00 per pip, and a micro lot (0.01) is worth $0.10 per pip — the price increment itself is 0.0001.
What is the pip value for a 0.01 lot GBPUSD position?
A 0.01 lot is a micro lot, so each pip of movement is worth $0.10. Multiply that by however many pips the price moves to get the dollar change on that position.
How do I calculate GBPUSD position size?
Divide the dollar amount you're risking by your stop-loss distance in pips multiplied by the pip value per lot. The calculator on this page does that arithmetic for you and returns a lot size in GBP.
What margin does GBPUSD require?
Margin depends on your broker's leverage and the contract size of 100,000 GBP per standard lot. Enter your leverage into the calculator to see the dollar amount a given lot size ties up, then confirm the figure against your own broker's contract spec.
What are GBPUSD swap rates?
XM MT5, 2026-09-05 shows a long swap of -3.7 points (-$3.70 per standard lot per night) and a short swap of -4.1 points (-$4.10). Swap is set by each broker and changes daily, so check your own broker's contract spec rather than treating this as a standard rate.
Does this calculator predict profit on a GBPUSD trade?
No. It multiplies the pip value by the number of pips you enter, so you can see what a given price move would be worth in dollars. It does not forecast where the price will go.
