FRA40 (CAC 40) Position Size and Point Value Calculator
This page turns a stop distance in points and an account size into a position size for CAC 40 (FRA40), and turns a lot size into a dollar value per point. Use it to size a trade to a fixed risk amount before you place it, rather than guessing a lot size and checking afterwards.

Pip values for non-USD-quoted instruments are recalculated at the live FX rate when this page loads — the line next to the calculator shows which rate is in use, and falls back to the rate recorded at build time if that lookup fails. Swap is one broker's snapshot taken on the date in the table above; it changes daily and differs by broker, so check your own contract spec for the figure that applies to you.
Trading FRA40
Spread and swap differ by broker, which changes what a position actually costs you.
Divide the amount of your account you're willing to risk by the value of one point at a given lot size, then divide again by your stop distance in points. The calculator on this page does that division for you once you enter risk amount and stop distance.
How much is one point worth in FRA40 (CAC 40)?
The dollar value of one point depends on lot size: for a standard lot it's $1.15207, for a mini lot $0.115207, and for a micro lot $0.011521. These figures are already converted to US dollars, so you don't need to convert EUR yourself.
Is a pip the same as a point on FRA40?
On CAC 40 (FRA40) the terms are generally used interchangeably, with 1 being the smallest price increment tracked. Check your own broker's platform to confirm how they label it, since conventions vary by provider.
Does this calculator include overnight swap costs?
Yes, it can factor in swap. XM MT5, 2026-08-07 shows a long swap of -1.21 points (-$1.39 per standard lot per night) and a short swap of -0.07 points (-$0.08 per standard lot per night), but swap rates change daily and differ by broker, so check your own account's contract spec before relying on the figure.
What lot size should I use for a given account size?
There's no fixed lot size for a given account size — it depends on your stop distance and how much of your account you're prepared to risk on that specific trade. Enter both into the calculator to get a lot size rather than applying a rule of thumb.
Why does the point value change with lot size?
Point value scales directly with contract size: a mini lot is a fraction of a standard lot's 1 pts, and a micro lot a smaller fraction still, so the dollar value per point shrinks in the same proportion.
