About MPX Tools

MPX Tools is a set of free calculators for people who trade CFDs and forex — position size, pip value, margin, swap and a few others — plus a page for each individual instrument showing what those numbers actually come to.

Where the numbers come from

Every contract specification on this site — contract size, pip size, and the overnight swap rates — is read from a live MetaTrader 5 account at a named broker, and the date it was read is shown next to it. Nothing is typed in from memory or copied from another website.

Those figures are compared against the broker again every day, automatically. If a pip value drifts more than 2% from what the broker's own platform calculates, the page does not go out until it has been reconciled. That check exists because it has already caught real errors here: seven instruments were once carrying contract sizes that were wrong by a factor of ten to a hundred, and no amount of reading the page would have revealed it.

Exchange rates for non-USD instruments are refreshed live in your browser when a page loads, so pip values shown in dollars reflect the rate at the moment you are reading, not the rate on the day the page was written.

What this site is not

Swap rates and specifications differ between brokers and change daily. The figures here are one broker's snapshot on a stated date. Before you rely on them for a real position, check the contract specification in your own platform.

How it is paid for

The tools are free and there is nothing to sign up for. Some links to brokers, prop firms and VPS providers pay a commission if you open an account through them. That is what funds the site.

It changes nothing about what the calculators output. The arithmetic does not know which broker you use, and the instrument data comes from a live trading account rather than from anyone's marketing material. Every affiliate link is marked, and the full list is on the partners page.

Who runs it

MPX Tools is run by an independent algorithmic trader who builds and runs automated trading systems, and wrote these calculators because the existing ones either got the contract sizes wrong or would not show where their numbers came from.

Some links on this page are affiliate links. If you open an account through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This does not affect the numbers our calculators produce.
